This weekly workout is brought to you by Dawn Craig, a fitness specialist, at the Woman’s Center for Wellness.
The reformer makes a dramatic impression when you first see it, and an even more dramatic change in the body when you use it. While it may be intimidating to look at, the reformer is an excellent piece of equipment that uses a combination of body weight and resistance to provide a complete workout despite body size and difficulty level.
All kinds of exercises are done on the reformer to promote and develop strength, flexibility and balance. Most exercises done on the reformer have to do with pushing or pulling the carriage or holding the carriage steady while it is pulled on by springs. The versatility of the machine allows for the multitude of exercises to be done by anyone and offer a challenging workout to beginners and advanced participants, alike!
Long Stretch
The long stretch is a variation of a plank that targets the muscles deep in the abdomen that builds the core and helps stabilize the spine.
Mermaid
The mermaid offers a long, deep stretch great for enhancing the core. This simple stretch brings focus to deep breathing and aids in building those muscles associated with posture.
