As the new year quickly approaches, many of us are making resolutions and deciding what changes will take place in the coming months. Some of us swear off alcohol while others nix chocolate; some say no more soda and others decide to reduce bread and carbs. It’s totally normal, and very exciting, to create health resolutions following the over-indulgent holiday season. And it should come as no surprise that the number one New Year’s resolution is to lose weight. And yet, only 8% of those people will achieve that goal. Let’s be real, it’s tough to stay motivated come mid-January.

There are a lot of different weight loss methods out there, making it difficult to find the right one for you. Of the many, Woman’s Center for Wellness offers Ideal Protein. It’s a great program! Here’s the details:

What is it? 

Ideal Protein is a Four-Phase Ketogenic weight and lifestyle management system. This is a structured program with light exercise being encouraged along side a specific food plan, with a variety of delicious foods available. During your journey, you will work side by side with one of our nutrition experts for maximum accountability. This increased knowledge will assist you with behavioral changes to last a lifetime, helping you to not only lose the weight, but also keep it off.

How it works?

In the first few days of the program, you will work to deplete your body’s normal immediate source of energy, glycogen (sugar and refined carbs). At that point, your body needs to decide whether to burn fat or muscle for energy. Because the program includes the ideal amount of protein each day, muscle and lean body mass are preserved and your body begins to burn fat as an energy source. Throughout the program, you will work to maintain this state of ketosis. This is different from traditional calorie restriction diet plans that cause you to lose fat and body mass. When you gain weight again, your body gains fat only, which increases your overall body fat. This does not happen to participants on Ideal Protein.

What to expect?

While on Ideal Protein, you can expect:

  • Safe, rapid and motivating weight loss
  • Loss of fat and not lean body mass
  • A gradual transition into a regular and healthy eating habit

Once you reach your weight loss goal, you will begin to “phase out,” meaning you will reduce the Ideal Protein meals and slowly add more “regular” proteins, carbs and fats back into your diet.
