Meet Kathy: WCW Member Spotlight

My life is BOLD and BUSY, but I always make time for self-care and a contributing factor is my fitness program. I learned about the importance of staying healthy and being fit at a young age, and I’ve maintained that mindset from my cheerleading days to this very day. What’s the secret to my success and making it all work? Keep it simple! That’s right, don’t try to overcomplicate fitness and make it more than it is. Instead, focus on what you need and what you enjoy, and the rest will fall into place.

I’ve been a fitness member at the Woman’s Center for Wellness for 11 years. At the time, I was drawn to the women-only environment and took advantage of the ongoing membership special. I’ve remained a member because I’ve enjoyed my experience so much. The facility is beautiful, filled with top-of-the-line equipment and a caring staff that is always willing to help. I enjoy the options I have there, ranging from personal training to group classes. The ability to change up my routine keeps me motivated, while also helping me stay fit.

I absolutely love the variety of classes that are offered! With over 100 classes each week, it’s easy to find a class that I’m not only interested in, but also one that fits into my schedule. Strong by Zumba, H.I.T.T. and Body Fusion is where you’ll find me most of the time. However, I do enjoy a good spin class from time to time. The instructors are great!  They keep the class fun and work to accommodate members as needed. For me personally, I enjoy the challenge of a class and work to push myself harder each time. Plus, I’ve made so many new friends from taking classes that it becomes even more fun to work out with those around you.

Aside from the classes, I really enjoy my personal training sessions. Not sure about it? All I can say is, don’t knock it until you try it! I was unsure at first, but after a few sessions, I was hooked. I really enjoy the one-on-one time that helps me target areas I’ve having trouble with. My trainer, Tanya, is incredible. I love the workouts she puts together, even the burpees! (But don’t let her find out.)  She always keeps it fresh and keeps me motivated with encouragement throughout our workouts.

Life is busy, we can all agree about that. But if you’re not healthy, it can be hard to live life fully. It’s important to keep our bodies moving, which means actively participating in our overall health. Woman’s Center for Wellness is an excellent place to do just that! And you don’t have to take my word for it, I encourage everyone to visit the center and see it for themselves.
