Why Get an Annual Mammogram?

Why Get an Annual Mammogram?

With the new year here, now is a great time to remind yourself to schedule your annual mammogram if you’re due.

Doctors, nurses, radiologists and the entire cancer staff at Woman’s Hospital advises women over the age of 40 to get a mammogram every year. More than 90 percent of breast cancer cases can be detected through mammography, and early detection is one of the most important factors to surviving breast cancer.

In the following video, radiologist Marcia Gremillion talks about what a mammogram is, what doctors are looking for in the images and why it’s important to get a mammogram done every year.
