The following is a testimonial from Mary, who participated in Woman’s Balance program:
I have been a yo-yo dieter my whole life, swinging from overly restrictive diets to overeating once my willpower ran out. This past spring, after struggling yet again to get my eating under control, I made an appointment with Jennifer, a registered dietitian at Woman’s. I needed to stop overeating as well as come up with an eating plan that met my nutritional needs while keeping me satiated. Jennifer developed a plan that did both. I lost weight while embracing a much more varied diet, and I felt better than ever without feeling deprived.
In September, I participated in Balance, a small group nutrition and exercise program to continue the positive relationship I had developed with food in the spring. Weekly Balance classes presented new material as well as reviewed basic information. The small group setting was so positive and supportive with ample opportunities for questions and discussions. Though I joined with the idea of maintaining my weight loss, I lost another five pounds. My friends have noticed my weight loss and have been asking how I transformed myself.
Continuing a good relationship with food and nutrition will always be a challenge worth pursuing. It’s my life, and I intend to make it the best one I can!
