My Journey to Woman’s NICU

My Journey to Woman’s NICU

Author: Nikki, NICU Nurse

I started my journey with Woman’s 18 years ago when my twins were born at 28 weeks and 5 days. Although it was a scary time, the staff – from the doctors to the nurses and everyone in-between – cared for not only my kids but me as well. That experience led me to a career in nursing.

Getting to work with the smallest infants is such an amazing gift. They are truly a miracle and we are blessed to be able to help them develop. Day to day we work with “our babies” and their families to make sure they are comfortable with everyone they come into contact with and know they are getting the very best care possible.

Woman’s NICU is special in so many ways. In addition to life-saving medical care, we work together as a team to ensure that we meet the needs of our patients and their families and deliver an unforgettable experience. This includes monthly get-togethers for parents sharing the same challenges and the support of our NICU Family Support Navigator. Our yearly reunion is an event we all look forward to; it’s so rewarding seeing our NICU graduates reach all the small and large milestones.

There isn’t one single reason as to why our NICU is so special, because it’s in everything we do. Those babies and families become a part of our lives forever.
